Macarooned on a Dessert Island

Now I love my cupcakes just like any other girl, but after maneuvering through a few at several weddings, wouldn't we all agree that the crumbly texture of this sweet is best experienced on a lazy Sunday afternoon and not a fancy fête or on your new dress?

What is a bride to do? How about inviting the French over? The French macaroon, that is. If you've never eaten a macaroon, please stop reading now, head on over to your nearest pâtisserie and take a little bite of sweet heaven.

Leave it to the French to make a dessert oh so sophisticated. Who would have thought that a pastry could have that certain je ne sasi quoi - a slightly crispy cake on the outside and a flavor infused cream filling on the inside, making for a delicate and feather light confection. Their uniform size and an array of bright colors will suit any wedding just perfectly.

To display them, I suggest lining them up in rows of color like little soldier ready to do battle with your taste buds. If your guest are eager to take them home (and I know they will be!), these macaroons look perfect packaged in a small box.

These mouthwatering bites come to us from Evan's Kitchen Ramblings - and for you bridal foodies check out her entire blog - absolutely stunning!

After that culinary trip down macaroon lane, I think it's safe to say the macaroon is the new cupcake. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go wipe the crumbs off my keyboard.

Bon appe-sweet!
