Coming Up Roses

A new way to incorporate roses into your wedding? How about these fashion forward black crystal tattoo rose tights?

Of course to flash these pretties, one would have to wear a short dress - which wouldn't be that bad! Any takers?

It's in the Bag

The Oscars are almost here and I can hardly wait to see all the gorgeous gowns making their way down the aisle - er I mean red carpet. Playing a supporting role in any actress' look for the evening?

Why, the clutch of course! And who else but Judith Leiber to add a little more sparkle to a glamorous night. Here are a few star's I'm hoping to see on their big night . . .

If you're like me, a Leiber piece is something I can only dream about. But as fate should have it, here's a great Amanda Pearl giveaway from fellow blogger Merci New York. Enjoy!

Helping Hands

So you're engaged! Now comes the hard part - figuring out who will be a part of your bridal party.

Bridal parties can range from one maid of honor to several of your best gal pals standing by your side. Small size weddings usually have 1-2 bridesmaids, medium size weddings have 3-4 bridesmaids, and large size weddings have 5 bridesmaids or more.

To ease some stress from your mind, don't feel obligated to ask every female friend to be a part of your wedding. Ask those gals whom you would like to share the happiest moment of your life, but don't feel obligated to ask everyone - a true friend will understand if you do not ask her. If you are a bride with sisters or future sister-in-laws ranks high on your who to ask list. Keep in mind that your bridesmaids will have to agree on the date of the bridal shower, coordinate details of the wedding, and bear the expenses of being a bridesmaid.

Good luck!

How Bazaar

If a little fantasy is what you're looking for, escape the mad rush of Los Angeles and step into a design and dining wonderland (courtesy of Philippe Starck) at the Patisserie in The Bazaar by Jose Andres.

Playful with a touch of whimsy, the European-inspired Patisserie is a a fanciful dream of sweet delights, with a pink decor as sugary as the treats it serves. Centered around a glass-enclosed display kitchen, the Patisserie offers an irresistible selection of cakes, bon bons, chocolates and fruit confections. Bite sized pieces of art displayed in glass domes are a treat for the senses, not to mention a great design concept for your reception or bridal shower!

Sweet dreams, ladies, sweet dreams.

The Unexpected

This year it’s all about bringing unexpected elements together to create something new and inspiring.

Take for example these stunning images from Jenny Packham. Modern day goddess worthy chiffon gowns look right at home in a rustic setting. Ethereal silk chiffons, old world crystal brooches and time worn textures of the room create a nostalgic, vintage yet modern feel.

So take a look at those things that you once believed would never fit together. The results may just surprise you!

Flowers Need Love Too

There is something so romantic about receiving a fresh arrangements of flowers from your loved one - especially on Valentine's Day! As Vera Wang notes "Flowers represent our inner emotions and transform the everyday into a special occasion. When receiving fresh flowers, it is important to know about basic maintenance and care in order to enjoy your gift to its fullest potential."

Indeed! Myself? I like an arrangement of roses much like the ones in the above image. To keep your flowers as long lasting as your love, keep these helpful tips in mind:
  1. Remove the outside guard petals. These petals were left on to protect the bloom during shipment.
  2. Cut 1 inch off the bottom of each stem with a sharp knife or floral scissors and remove any leaves that will come in contact with the water in the vase.
  3. Fill the vase with tepid water and add 1 packet of flower food.
  4. Be sure to keep your bouquet away from direct sunlight, drafty areas or high heat to insure a long life.
  5. To keep your bouquet fresh, re-cut the stems every few days and replace the water with fresh water.
After all flowers like any relationship take a bit of love and nurturing to last. To read more on how to take care of your best buds, click here.

Eye Candy

Have you seen this Valentine's Day inspired dessert buffet from Amy Atlas?

From Amy: Playing off the theme "love is the key to my heart" she included key cupcakes and custom "love is the key to my heart" chocolate bars. Amy and her team opted for a bubblegum pink, light pink and pale grey color palette instead of the expected pink and red palette. She wanted to play with those colors for some time and thought Valentine's Day would be the perfect holiday to experiment with the palette.

On the table were some delicious goodies including a macaron tower, ruffled buttercream cake, and lots of pink candy! To give it a nostalgic feel, they served strawberry milk in "Be Mine" glasses. The ladies from Wiley Valentine designed the beautiful paperie elements for the table for the dessert buffet and Patti Paige of Baked Ideas created the elegant key cupcakes and heart cookies for them. Annabelle of Belathee Photography stopped by and captured these gorgeous photographs.

Cupid's Arrow

Have you been struck by Cupid's Arrow? Introducing gifts every girl will fall in love with from who else but Tiffany & Co.

I fell in love with these keys not because they are Tiffany & Co, but because of the brilliantly simple concept of their ad campaign. These delightful charms are a wonderful take on unlocking any gal's heart, and just in time for Valentine's Day. But beyond just purchasing a key for your gal (note to my gal pals - accidentally email him above image!), how about working this creative idea into your wedding.

With the rise of vintage inspired weddings, wouldn't it be lovely to find some well loved and well worn keys and recreate this concept like your engagement announcement or keepsake favor?

Ladies, how would you commemorate your Prince finding the key to your heart?
